Chinas Excavator Loader Sales Surge in July 2025

While the pulse of the global economy remains uncertain, China's construction machinery market has demonstrated remarkable resilience. In July, the country's two flagship products—excavators and loaders—not only maintained their growth momentum from the first half of the year but also achieved simultaneous growth in both domestic sales and exports, driven by strong overseas demand. This raises a critical question: Is China's construction machinery industry entering a new growth cycle?

According to statistics from the China Construction Machinery Association, total excavator sales reached 17,138 units in July , marking a 25.2% year-on-year increase . Domestic sales accounted for 7,306 units, up 17.2%, reflecting steady demand from infrastructure and real estate sectors. Meanwhile, exports surged 31.9% to 9,832 units, underscoring the growing competitiveness of Chinese excavators in global markets.

From January to July, cumulative excavator sales totaled 137,658 units—a 17.8% increase year-on-year. Domestic sales grew 22.3% to 72,943 units, while exports rose 13% to 64,715 units.

Notably, electric excavators—though still a niche segment—are gaining traction. July saw 9 units sold across various weight classes, signaling potential for specialized applications.

The loader market mirrored this upward trend, with total sales reaching 9,000 units in July —a 7.4% increase. Domestic sales grew 2.5% to 4,549 units, while exports climbed 13% to 4,451 units.

Year-to-date loader sales hit 73,769 units (up 12.8%), with domestic demand (40,171 units, +20.4%) outpacing exports (33,598 units, +4.9%).

Electric loaders emerged as a standout, with 2,391 units sold in July —far exceeding electric excavators. Dominance in 5-ton and 6-ton categories highlights their suitability for specific operations.

China's construction machinery sector continues to benefit from domestic economic recovery, infrastructure investments, and rising global demand. However, challenges persist—from volatile raw material prices to trade tensions. To sustain growth, manufacturers must prioritize innovation, quality, and international market expansion.
